A broad, south facing terrace has been created, backed by raised beds which will contain scented roses. New retaining walls were built to tie in with existing stone work. Paths and steps now allow safe access. Proportions are generous and much more in keeping with the house. We managed to retain some carefully chosen mature planting, in some cases moving trees and shrubs out of the way whilst work was completed.
This large country garden was becoming too difficult to maintain. Steps and paths were slippery and narrow and the south facing aspect of the house was under used due to a hazardous sloping terrace. The client wanted to create a much lower maintenance garden whilst keeping a traditional style and with space for some well chosen plants close to the house.
