The client’s own sketches of rocks and beautiful Japanese calligraphy were a starting point for discussion. The final design combined smooth river pebbles, natural wood and very carefully chosen plants such as grasses, hostas, ferns, bamboos and irises to create a Japanese style perfectly at home in its Scottish setting. The finished garden has an amazingly calming atmosphere – one of the most appealing gardens to sit in we have created- and is designed to draw you through to contemplate and enjoy each individual view and plant.
Squeezed between house and fence, with the lawn challenged by shade and a little dog, this garden was not doing much for its plant loving owner. The grass was difficult to maintain and despite limited space much of the garden was under used.
"I've just spent about three quarters of an hour (in my PJ's!) in my beautiful garden, walking around, (it's amazing how much to see in a small space) admiring the beautiful plants We've had quite heavy showers during the night so I think the plants are happy...me too!"Alyth
