A Woodland Entrance

There were a couple of lovely trees hidden amongst the shrubs, and these were retained to underpin the creation of a pretty woodland garden. Planting has been carefully chosen to thrive in the shaded conditions and to provide changing interest through the seasons. Bark paths and a toadstool clearing encourage the clients’ young daughter to play in the new garden with friends living along the cul de sac, and with the addition of seating this demonstrates that front gardens can become social spaces as well as welcoming entrances.

This north facing front garden was full of overgrown evergreens. The clients felt it was dark and unwelcoming. The garden was very difficult to maintain and the front steps were difficult for children and buggies.
