The shape central design feature of this front garden reflects the window detailing on the Arts and Crafts house. The design integrates a generous parking provision into a beautiful period garden. Great care was taken to research the history and architecture of the house and to use materials and plants appropriate to the period. The finished garden should be much lower maintenance and provide a smart and elegant entrance all year round.
Having restored their beautiful Arts and Crafts property the clients wanted a garden that was more in keeping with the period architecture, as well as easier to maintain. The conifer planting in the existing garden was out of place, whilst the grass was struggling in the semi-shaded conditions. With no defined edging, the grass was also growing into the driveway, which had become very difficult to keep looking smart. However, we were able to keep the hedge and some of the lovely deciduous azaleas and integrate them into the new design.
