Contemporary Twist

Smartening up a family garden in Edinburgh. This was an example of a perfectly pleasant garden which just needed a bit of help to look sleek and stylish, marrying it with the contemporary glazed garden-room extension. We used reclaimed stone saved from the recent building work, as well as more contemporary render, to create new raised beds, a more generous dining area and better-defined shapes. The planting reflects this more contemporary style, with grasses and clipped box giving structure all year round. This remains a practical and robust family garden which can be easily maintained and has just been taken up a notch in the style stakes.
