Loch Tummel

A large walled garden, wildflower meadows, dark natural pools, cottage garden courtyard and a private Herber garden are all beginning to take shape at this site in northern Perthshire.

This is a special place; wild, natural and yet with many centuries of habitation and history. There is an ancient bronze-age settlement here, Medieval foundations and the ancient crab apples to go with them, a garden wall left unfinished when the men went to fight for the Jacobites and never returned….and now a beautiful new house, rooted in the walls and history of the old place and needing a garden. The garden designs are inspired by the strong straight lines of the house’s architecture, but planted with the heart, life and movement of the landscape. Construction work is well under way in the old walled garden. The walls have been rebuilt with turf tops and native wildflower turf has already flowered its first year. Special bespoke seed mixes have been sown to match precious local native meadows as closely as possible. We will be here for a while yet and are so excited to see this all come into being.
